Five Resorts Opening Thanksgiving Week
Written by Josh Scheuerman
Sunday, 23 November 2008
ImageThanksgiving is a time to be thankful for everything you have in your life and the future possibilities that lay just around the next corner.  This Thursday, I’ll be thankful for Utah resorts opening up for the 2009 season across the state.  Although Snowbird beat everyone out of the gate this year, last year they hadn’t opened until Nov. 30 so nearly a month early was something to be thankful for.  Brighton also got the ball rolling when they opened the falling week with over 30” base followed by Alta and Solitude.  So with the unpredictable weather and the warming trend we have had for a few weeks, Mother Nature may be producing a few storms for this week’s holiday so every resort may open sooner than anticipated.
So here are a few more opening dates this week that should get locals out of their houses on their days off and up to a resort regardless of where you live in the state.

Brianhead – Wednesday, November 26
The Canyons – Thursday, November 27
Snowbasin – Thursday, November 27
Wolf Creek Resort – Friday, November 28
Powder Mountain – Saturday, November 29

Each resort has posted possible discounts plus season pass holders can get their season under way starting this week.  Be thankful for the small things, but pray a little for snow and Utah may have another record breaking season.

ImageNew Hidden Lake Terrain Park Features - Big natural features top the list of off season improvements to the Hidden Lake Terrain Park Area. In addition to widening and leveling the Hidden Lake Park Run to allow for a better jump line and more rail options, the crew built 2 new features in the Lumberjack zone. The first is a 40 foot plus straight log slide nic-named "the Howitzer" because of it's cannon like appearance. The second is an up-flat-down feature built from old power poles that has yet to be named.
