Shred-A-Thon at Park City Mountain Resort To Support the CHILL Program PDF Print E-mail
Written by Josh Scheuerman

So you want to be a part of the 2010 Chill Shred-A-Thon?

Well then, here’s how you can be included in the madness:

Park City Mountain Resort has graciously opened its doors to the Chill program and we’re going to town!  On Saturday, March 13 the SLC-Chill program will be hosting its own fundraising event.

And that’s it…simple huh?  To summarize:

·      Find people to pledge

·      Take down all their info (Don’t forget their address, phone number and e-mail so you/we can reach them to get their pledges)

·      Email your pledge form to Derek by 3/12/10 and bring your pledge form to the Chill tent at the mountain when the day arrives

·      Ride all day for the cause!!!

THINGS TO NOTE

  • Saturday March 13, 2010 from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.
  • Lift tickets will be covered by Chill and Park City for participants who reach a minimum $50 fundraising goal! (Lift ticket rate of just $35 if participating but unable to meet this goal)
  • You can come, ride and be a part of the fun for as long as you want…3 hours, 5 hours or all day
  • We need to have all contact info for each sponsor so we can follow up with them at the end of the fundraiser.
  • Chill will have a tent set up throughout the day with info on the program, snacks, a place to hang, etc.
  • On average a person who goes all out will ride about 22,000 vertical feet in a day while someone who takes it a little easy will ride 15,000 or so.  Keep this in mind in case people ask while you’re collecting pledges.
  • Everyone will get a little something for riding for the cause.
  • All the money raised by you and other shredders will go straight back to the SLC-Chill program and thus support over 120 inner-city youth from the SLC.

ImageX‐DANCE ACTION SPORTS FILM FESTIVAL CHARGES INTO
ITS 10th ANNIVERSARY - LEGEND WARREN MILLER TO RECEIVE LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD AT FESTIVAL CLOSING CEREMONY ON JANUARY 26th
For ten years strong, X‐Dance, the world’s premier action sports film festival, has celebrated the
compelling action sports culture and its filmmakers each January in Utah. Running side‐by‐side
with the Sundance Film Festival, the 10th annual X‐Dance Festival will be held in Salt Lake City
on January 21‐26, 2010.

Over the years, the X‐Dance founders have been dedicated to giving action sports films a
respected platform with the intentions of elevating the filmmaking in this genre to new heights.
Having reached this important 10‐year milestone, X‐Dance is thrilled to announce that they will
be honoring the Godfather of action sports filmmaking himself, Warren Miller.
“Warren Miller is one of the biggest inspirations in my life. Warren’s films, back in the day, were
an exciting sign of the pending winter season to come. It wasn’t ski season until you heard
Warren’s voice. X‐Dance was created with that inspiration in mind! We want to find the Warren
Millers of tomorrow and inspire today’s filmmakers to push the limits and creatively express the
passions of their sport and culture the way Warren did. We are thrilled to honor Warren Miller
with the Lifetime Achievement Award and have him attend the festival,” exclaims Brian
Wimmer, X‐Dance Festival Director/Founder.

Snowboard and Ski Finals, Downtown at EVE PDF Print E-mail
Written by Josh Scheuerman
Wednesday, 30 December 2009

ImageOne of the highlights of EVE, Salt Lake’s new three-day celebration for the New Year, is the USANA Rail Jam—a ski and snowboard competition—on Gallivan Plaza. Sixty top skiers and snowboarders will ski and ride a 3-story high rail set-up covered with 50 tons of snow in the center of downtown.

The Rail Jam runs daily, starting today with showings December 29 and 30 from 4 to 6 and 7 to 9 p.m.;
December 31 from 4 to 6 and 7 to 9 p.m. and a late show starting at 9:30 p.m.
There are three pro caliber rails, each different in shape and style, giving athletes options for different tricks and the audience an opportunity to view a variety of moves—the same stunt will not happen twice. KAB Rails (a local company based in Murray) built the structure for EVE and also builds terrain parks for the top ski resorts in the state.

The Rail Jam will bring the greatest snow on earth to the heart of city for three days of exciting competitions involving the finest athletes in the region,” said Jessica Kunzer, director of communications for Ski Utah.
