DaKine – Vectra Glove For years snowboarders have reverted to the old adage, ‘if it’s not broke, don’t throw it out in the trash’. Leather has kept bodies and hands warm since the dawn of man and there seems to reason to switch to any substitute. DaKine’s Vectra leather gloves, holds up to the worse abuse that any rider can dish out. Featuring a Gore Tex insert with XCR (Extended Comfort Range) technology. Which keep hands insulated from the elements, but also wicks the sweat from keeping so toasty, away from the skin. Secondary Primaloft Insulation, Durafuse leather and fixed mid-weight fleece lining. The zipper cuff zipper keeps heat in and snow out, fixing it in close to the wrist. Introducing Gore Tex in nearly all their glove lines this season, whether you prefer mittens or want an artist inspired finger blankets get all the details at Dakine. http://www.dakine.com/ |

Un…Inc 157 Snowlar Powered
Yes this board is a Coalition only board so it may be hard to find, but having never been on a Un…Inc before I’m glad to have ridden it all season there is absolutely nothing this board cannot handle. First off there are two Carbon I-Beam’s running tip to tail that supply pop and stability to every riding condition. If you are hitting cliffs, this board will keep you afloat in the landing zone and busting out of powder that would drag most boards to the bottom. Here are some more tech specs for your eyes to hear. Ellipitcal Kicks. The first thing that everyone notices about the board is that the nose and tail kick up shaper which makes riding in powder easier and gives any ollie a little more boost. Laying on flat ground this board is visually different from every board I have ridden, but until you truly put it to the test of riding, it’s hard to explain how much pop these features give. This board is rated a 4 out of ten in stiffness, which makes butters and park riding optimal. All Un…Inc boards are equipped with The Channel system, which love it or hate it is the new EST System, which the bindings come equipped with. The freedom that EST provides is worth noting, but hardly a selling point. This board rides very hard, stomps landings and has tested its teeth on rails and boxes for the entire season. I have rock jibbed, tree trunk ridden, cliff dropped and spun this board with abandon with little to no damage so far. Did I mention it glows in the dark? When did your last board double as a night light? I bought this board for the peace graphics and based on the team members who support and ride Un…Inc. Yes, I do notice who is riding what gear and if I think they can handle their business on the slopes, it must have something to do with what they are riding on. Try to find a Un…Inc to demo and unlike most blog posts don’t listen to my advice, but this season I’m glad I was promoting peace and riding away grinning when others were falling by the sidelines.

How do you support a habit? If you habits include cliff drops with the Wildcats in Canada, massive jumps built in Scandinavia, or first descents in Alaska it helps to have a support of 8. Tadashi Fuse, Mads Jonnson and Jussi Oksanen have been the primary developers of the Burton Ion boot for two years running and have made a fast entry, ready to fire, supportive boot capable of every condition put through. Because of the demanding climates and features in each of their video parts this season, including the latest Process Video; they are all literally putting their best foot forward. This season, the Ion is lighter, smarter and more comfortable, if that were possible? The speed zone is almost enough of a selling feature to be used on any snowboard boot moving forward. The last quicker in the boots, the less time one-foot hopping in the parking lot during a blizzard the better. The support I have been speaking of helps in all conditions, especially back country riding. The terrain park will have to wait a few weeks to get the comfort pounded in and the boots a little more relaxed for the steezy laybacks that are all together more popular at the moment. Trust my judgment, but if the riders mentioned above don’t satisfy your fix, walk into any retail shop and listen to the employees tell you the details to get you hooked.

You’ve got to keep your dome protected these days. With icy superpipes, mega booters, and tree runs all it takes is a slight mis-judgement and you could crack that thing wide open. So, if you would like to retain higher level brain functions then you need a quality helmet to keep covered. Check out the Smith Premise Helmet. |

The invention of the zipper revolutionized the clothing industry and brought about changes that have never been improved upon since. Such is the case with the Speed lacing system or Speed Zone that is the primary feature of the Ion. Just like pulling on your pants in the morning, pulling two zone cords tightens up the entire boot from heel to toe.

Burton Saphire Ok girls; raise your hand if you find it difficult to get a boot that fits. Now raise your hand if it is hard to find a boot that lasts all winter long. Last time, raise your hand if you can't find a boot that doesn't pack out perfectly and remain comfy all day.
Now that we got that out of the way, look around and see how many people are staring at you. Well if you raised your hand more than once don't worry I have found a boot that fixes any and all of your problems. |

When it comes to riding the Greatest Snow on Earth, you might want to consider a specialized board for floating through the light dry powder that falls over Utah's mountains. If your board is too short, you can get stuck in the flats when charging back to the lift. But, a board that is too large can feel like you're trying the captain an oil tanker down the mountain. Burton understands this dilemma and has developed the Fish, a board that is seemingly made for riding the Greatest Snow on Earth. |
