ImageFor the last five years, X-Dance has been the staple of action sport films during Sundance Film Festival.  Since the initial festival introduction it has become the festival to check out the best in each category of snowboard, surf, skate, BMX and base-jumping.  This year the films have been selected from the best of the best releases in the past year.

Kicking off the festival, Park City Mountain Resort showed their own "City, Park City" which features Shaun White, Jeremy Jones, and Mark Frank Montoya.

Following the same genre, snowboarding closed out the opening night with "For Right or Wrong" the Burton video documenting the 05/06 season and the athletes the competed in the Olympics to the athletes that compete against the elements in the street.  Burton also presented the opening party at the Side Car Bar with music and industry personal that came out for the tunes and drinks.

The LAT34 X-Dance Festival is pleased to announce that mountain bike pioneer Gary Fisher will receive a Lifetime Achievement Award at the festival’s closing ceremony. Deemed the Godfather of Mountain Biking, Fisher started bombing down the dirt trails of Mt. Tamalpais on beater bikes salvaged from the dump in 1969. He then went on to design mountain bikes and started NORBA (National Off-Road Bike Association) which now has over 30,000 members.  Eventually, Trek Bicycles bought his company and the rest, as they say, is history.

Actress Darryl Hannah will present an honorary award to the Action Sports Environmental Coalition (ASEC) and its founder, Frank Scurra, for their work as leaders in the environmental movement. In an effort to keep our oceans clean and preserve pristine wilderness, action sports culture has been at the forefront of global consciousness about various environmental issues throughout history, from recycling and renewable sources of energy to teaching respect for the power and beauty of nature, and ASEC has led that charge in this generation. Whether its greening the X-Games, the Gravity Games and skate parks throughout the country, or building awareness among youth through educational programs, ASEC has delivered the goods as a steward of the environment. They have made a difference.
