Ogden (or as the locals call it, O-Town), UT has become a city on the map for ski and snow enthusiasts everywhere. To inaugurate what has become a city re-born as the ski industry epicenter, DNA Ski Apparel, Nidecker, Salomon, Kahuna Creations and ATOMIC are teaming together to host the “O-Town Throw-Down Rail Jam” competition in conjunction with ski film premier Realtime by Level 1 Productions on September 27th. The night will kick off with an Open rail session ($10 open) and live-band at 5pm. Following this will be climbing wall and street skate competitions and the feature premier of Realtime beginning at 9pm. Rounding out the night will be the “Throw-Down” Snow-less Rail Jam competition. Three comp positions will be reserved for qualifiers from the Open session.

The events will be held in the Ogden Glass Atrym, a structurally impressive, once abandoned factory turned model for green building development in Ogden. Built in 1915 for the American Can Company, the long-neglected 17,000 square foot building has been completely revamped for the event and is now viewed as the cornerstone of Ogden’s downtown re-birth.

A $5 cover gets viewers in the doors and includes admission for one of the season’s most anticipated ski films of the year. Realtime, directed by award-winning filmmaker Josh Berman and produced by Level 1 Productions, “captures the season as it unfolds for a crew of the biggest names and best up-and-coming talent in skiing. In a winter quite unlike any other to date, the film is a chronological portrayal of the trials, tribulations, and triumphs of the ’06-’07 season exactly as it happened.”

Along with premier product and swag give-a-ways and local graffiti art installations, Powder Mountain Resort will be offering a $25 discount on season passes. Another major highlight for the evening will be the head-to-head “Throw-Down” Rail Jam competition: skiers vs. skiers and
boarders vs. boarders. As well as prizes and $500 cash for the winner, there will be a “best trick” award given at the event. On location will be DNA and Salomon sponsored freeride athletes John Symms and Mike Clarke for autograph signing and event emceeing.

Tickets will be sold at the door @ The Atrym on the corner of 20th St. & Lincoln in Ogden. Doors open at 5pm

Spring Backcountry Mission
So, this season, I’ve been on a mission to tackle some backcountry routes that I’ve been wanting to do for a while. So far I’ve ticket “The Seagull” on Argenta and that’s it. Between having access to every resort in Utah and a busy schedule dominated by a two year old, I’ve had [...]

Burton Chill Program Video
If you’ve been following this blog, you know that I spent 6 weeks this winter with the Burton Chill Program and my 13 year old neighbor Jake. Burton’s Chill Program takes at-risk and inner city youth to the mountains and provides them with all the gear, transportation, and instruction that they need to snowboard.  [...]
