Image Style. When Future Snowboard Magazine 3.4 dropped early season featuring a stylish wall ride of Trevor Andrews under a freeway, the brain instantly associated the two to become one.  Style + Wall Ride = Trevor ‘Trouble’ Andrews who has always had style and signature moves (Mctwist) to accompany the seven series he has been helping develop over the years. While recovering from a knee injury last year he put his downtime to good use creating “crunk rock” on this self titled record and played some of the biggest snowboard events in the world.
“Trouble” Andrews will be flying in from a show in Whistler to play the opening party for X-Dance in downtown Salt Lake City, Saturday January 19, 2008. His last show here was in November for an Oakley party, which most of the public did not get an invite.  For the last year, Trouble’s self-titled debut has been circulating from car stereos to snowboard community housing and finally to iTunes.  I first heard “Chase Money” on the way to an afterparty in sub zero temperatures with steamed up windows, thinking I was listening to a Timberland lost track from the 90’s.  Finally having bought the whole album off iTunes, it’s remarkable to hear what other bands spend so much time and money trying to create, yet this naturally seems to flow from Trouble in buckets.  The influences range all over the board as mentioned on his Myspace site that has an impressive 300,000+ visitors and over 600,000 total plays for his music.  This latest tour will also take him to some of the greatest snowboard events, where he will be performing after competing at the X-Games, ISPO trade show in Germany, the Air and Style in Innsbruck and then playing back in the states at the famous knitting factory in New York City.

When was the last time you were in Utah?

I was last in SLC in November 07 I played a show for an Oakley party.

Since you just finished the second ‘Trouble’ record, how many new songs are you previewing to the public?

The 2nd record is not finished yet. I'm actually in the middle of recording it and finishing up the Trouble mix tape coming March as well. The new Trouble Andrew LP will be coming out this May. We have been playing a lot of the new songs for the 2nd record live.

Will the new record be available at the show?

You can pick up a copy of the first Trouble Andrew record on iTunes or cdbaby.com, we also sell them at our shows.

Chad Muska is the only other industry icon that has also broke into other avenues to put out his own mix CD, which were primarily beats he had made on his computer. You are writing your own songs to go along with the beats.  Did you record in a studio or straight from the computer first? Equipment used?
The first equipment I used was very simple, a 4 track tape recorder, mpc2000 sampler, micro korg keyboard, mic and a guitar + bass. I actually just upgraded to protools though lol.

Have you been asked or are looking for scoring a snowboard/skate film?
I been involved a lot over the years picking music and providing music for snowboard flix but never actually scored one, that would be fun though, I think I'd be good at it just cause I been a rider for so long and understand how to connect the two as one.

For the next few months you will be performing for some of the years biggest snowboard contests. Traveling with Burton over the years, you must have seen plenty of performers at such events.  Do any stick out in your mind?
Ice T at Innsbruck Air and Style was dope. Wu Tang, Big Pun. Its rad when artists come to the snow.

There are plenty of live videos on YouTube of you performing as a band, the Burton LA store opening looks much like the 80’s rock bands with ladies dancing on the stage silhouetted by lights and smoke.  Were you inspired by the live-shows of any of your influences growing up in Canada?
Just a lot of lil punk rock shows I used to sneak into. Some local bands I remember ripper were Sawbelly and Donner Party reunion.

Will you be entering any of the contests are you playing for?  Who will you be filming with this season?
X games, Innsbruck Air And Style, Grenade Games. I'm in the process of filming my segment for the new Burton movie.

Playing for X-Dance this year, you will be playing the opening party for the only movie festival that represents action sports.  Any snowboard video past/present you think should be awarded which didn’t have the chance before?

Board with the World, Snowboarders in Exile, New Kids on the Twak.

What collaboration would you like to work on in the future?
I'm always down to be creative and brainstorm with peeps that are in my same head space, that’s why Jake Burton is so rad, he just lets me do my thing. I think as far as music goes, Trent Reznor (Nine Inch Nails) Pharrel (Neptunes) Lil john or
Timberland might get what I'm doin and be fun to work with.

“Thanks, see you in SLC soon.”
