One of the highlights of EVE, Salt Lake’s new three-day celebration for the New Year, is the USANA Rail Jam—a ski and snowboard competition—on Gallivan Plaza. Sixty top skiers and snowboarders will ski and ride a 3-story high rail set-up covered with 50 tons of snow in the center of downtown.
The Rail Jam runs daily, starting today with showings December 29 and 30 from 4 to 6 and 7 to 9 p.m.; December 31 from 4 to 6 and 7 to 9 p.m. and a late show starting at 9:30 p.m. There are three pro caliber rails, each different in shape and style, giving athletes options for different tricks and the audience an opportunity to view a variety of moves—the same stunt will not happen twice. KAB Rails (a local company based in Murray) built the structure for EVE and also builds terrain parks for the top ski resorts in the state. "Downtown Nose Slide" “One of the best things about SLC is its proximity to several world class ski and snowboard resorts. The Rail Jam will bring the greatest snow on earth to the heart of city for three days of exciting competitions involving the finest athletes in the region,” said Jessica Kunzer, director of communications for Ski Utah.
