Jon Kooley - p: Justin L'Heureux
Interview: Josh Scheuerman

Years snowboarding: 12
Home mountain (stomping ground): Brighton

Three fellow riders who push you?
Jordan Mendenhall, because he has the best, most natural style ever. Mitch Nelson, because he is so positive and keeps everyone motivated. Justin Hebble, because he is so tech the whole season, I'm just trying to keep up. Jeremy Jones and Seth Huot, because they are so well-rounded and consistent.

Was the People crew a new filming group for you?  Who had you filmed with before and who was new to the fold?
It was a new crew all together. We had some of the same dudes from Kids Know: Jordan Mendenhall, Justin Hebble, Mitch Nelson, and Etienne Gilbert. Everyone else was new to me. We had some really good trips with Nima Jalali, Josh Mills, and Bryan Fox.

How did this last season push your snowboard career?
All of the filmers are awesome. It made it that much easier to go out and get shots.

Describe the thin line between getting the shot and getting killed.
Confidence. If you don't have confidence, chances are you aren't going to commit and you're going to get broken off.

Do you rock the iPod to raise the stoke level?  What tunes came through the earbuds most last season?
I really only use my iPod when I'm building a jump or setting up a rail.  I listened to a lot of the new Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Left for Dead, and The Organ.

How much is expected from you from sponsors depending on films or contests?
I haven't done very many contests and I don't think that my sponsors expect that. I think a video part and photos for ads is what they are looking for out of me.

What were some films or riders' parts that you remember rewinding and watching over and over again?
So many. Peter Line in Meltdown Project, Subject Haakonsen, JP Walker in every movie, Jeremy Jones in every movie.

List of break-offs last year?
I was trying to B/S 270 a rail and the runway was a bit too slow. I ended up clipping my nose, followed by some sort of rodeo to my guts at the bottom of the rail. Another memorable one was in Canada. I had a vicious edge catch while warming up on a really easy rail. I tried a back lip and found myself in the landing with a throbbing butt.

What is left on your personal "to do" list?
To go one day this winter without flipping my snowmobile.

Three favorite spots?
The Spot, Rail Gardens, and Brighton

Any last words?
Check out our new movie, People.

SPONSORS: SANTA CRUZ, HOLDEN, UNION, CELSIUS, IS DESIGN, LEVEL, COAL, LIFETIME, MILO AND CIRCA.
